I was going to do a piece about electro swing and The Great Gatsby, but THIS. This is so hot off the press that you should probably go and get the oven mitts – a teatowel just won’t do.
To say he’s killed it with this track would be an understatement. He’s taken Rustie’s original banger and added his trademark sound to it, still keeping the building-shaking elements that made Slasherr such a dancefloor destroyer in the first place. The classic synths during the introduction are only the start of the nostalgia: the repitched vocals and that clap are just so damn Flume!
However, the part that almost made me fall off my chair was that second drop: It slams the brakes on and throws the hook into half-time, along with any loose objects in the immediate vicinity. The rework of the original track’s sidechaining (the pumping feeling that brings out the kick) is subtle, but it makes a world of difference when it hits.
So, can you tell I like it yet?
The original is a bass-laden masterpiece unto itself, so give it a listen too
